In my second game review, I will be giving my critics and opinions on Space Hopper and Skywire. These games follow the same Nitrome.com format with different themes. Please feel free to comment on this post, debate these reviews and share this blog.
Space Hopper
Welcome little astronaut, are you ready for your first mission? Basically make it to the portal/wormhole on the other side. The only things that will hinder your journey are alien contacts and planetary exploration. Your only assets include hopping, and gravity (sometimes it helps).
Avoid aliens at all costs. The will take on of your three lives. By hopping, you can use a planet's gravitational pull in you favor. Each planet has its own characteristics as it relates to size, and surface appearance. Size determines the pull of gravity while the appearance is affects other properties.
There are some key elements that I complain about. You have to use a guess and check method figuring out the range and strength of gravity fields. Quick movements turn into disasters. There is no safety net if something where to happen.
Skywire
Take a trip and see the sights. Notice the beauty in the plants, animals and bathtub architect. Just watch out for the animals and their mischievous fun. It is game over if they hit the cart three times and all the passenger fallout. How do you avoid such a travesty? Well, it is a game of timing an speed.
Use the up and down arrows to move back and forth along the pipeline. Immediate stops and timing are your only resources. Still it is an amusing game.
My problems with the game include difficulty, and simply frustration. This game is akin to the retro games like pacmac, and asteroid, simple with no wiggle room for error.

Nitrome: Game Review
This is the review of two games on Nitrome.com. These games are Off the Rails and Frost Bite. These games are just the first in a long list. Please feel free to comment on this post, debate these reviews and share this blog.
Off the Rails
This game was published in 2007. The game feature two green creatures that look like cactus with legs. You job is to get them to the end of the rail track. By tapping the left and right arrow keys alternatively, they pump the cart along the tracks. The up arrow is used to jump and avoid obstacles.
The game feature 20 levels of western fun, and 60 seconds are given to finish each level. Points are calculated at the end of the level. The 5 types of points to earn, and they are cash, trick, time, level and total.
The few pitfalls of this game include the inability to turn around or go in reverse on purpose. Tricks are clumsy in performance and execution. The one-hit die feature is also frustrating.
Frost Bite
The game was posted on their website in 2006. This is an artic platform game about a mountain climber. Your only tool is a grappling hook and 4 extra lives. This game also includes enemies, moving platforms and other obstacles. Your mission is to make it to the top of the mountain. The mouse is used to aim and shoot your grapping hook. The arrow keys are used to move.
Enemies are defeated by jumping on top or shooting them with the grapping hook. I don't know exactly how many levels there are. I only reached level 10. Points are collect from ice cream, enemies and BONUS letters.
The little agitating things about this game include. Your climb sliding to far, unable to shoot downward, and reload time.
